Energy meditation is one of the oldest means of developing strength our bodies - inner strength, that is. Energy meditation is a simple term referring to meditations which specifically focus on the energy systems running through our bodies, and has been used by cultures ancient through modern, from India and China to western society (which is finally catching on!).
Energy meditation addresses three modalities, namely the body, the mind and the soul. How Does Energy Meditation Work?
For most people who enjoy and practice it, energy meditation is a way of life. It is not just a one-day or one-month activity performed to boost energy for a certain period of time, rather it is a regular practice which is integrated into a healthy life.
Energy meditation involves different stages. You will likely want to enlist the help of a trainer or mentor at first, to learn the terminology as well as effective ways of tapping into and re-balancing your energy (or energy meridians**) .
During the first stages of your energy meditation training, you and your mentor will need to look into your life. This means that your mentor will guide you in evaluating your present life and identifying issues which can cause imbalance in your nervous system. Poor health, emotional problems, stress and other issues can cause severe imbalance in the energies around you, so you will need to address these things during the first stage of your training. Another thing you and your mentor will examine when evaluating your life is the presence of stagnant energy. Stagnant energy will be a great source of power for you once you know how to tap into and transform it. With energy meditation, you will learn to harness this stagnant energy and turn it into something productive.
After conducting a thorough evaluation, your teacher will now put you on a guided meditation course. A good teacher will know what is best for his or her student, so allow you teacher to chart your course. Since different people have different requirements, many teachers in energy meditation do not conduct group sessions. In most cases, you and you teacher will have a one-on-one session where your teacher will closely guide you during your meditation. Your first few sessions will usually consist of breathing exercises, stretching and free body movements to encourage the free flow of energy and to identify blocks.
Once you have learned hte basics, you can progressas you feel naturally able, wither continuing hte practice at home or joining classes. Note that energy meditation sometimes takes time to show effects on the body, mind and soul of the person, thus it is important that one should continuously practice this type of meditation to achieve the desired effect.
